December to February – Cold Season – Winter

  • It gets very busy and crowded in the most popular parks.
  • The skies are clear, rain is rare.
  • It gets cold at night and in the mornings. Packing warm winter clothing during December and January for the cold morning game drives is advisable.

March to June – Dry Season – Summer

  • Less vegetation and animals concentrate around waterholes and rivers, making wildlife easier to spot.
  • Although wildlife is easier to spot in the dry season, you will still see plenty, including newborn animals and migratory birds.
  • It gets very hot in May and June.
